Ludovico Simonetta

Ludovico Simonetta (also Ludovico Simoneta , * around 1500 in Milan , † April 30, 1568 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church .

Life

Ludovico Simonetta was a canonist and worked in Milan and Pavia. After abandoning his uncle Giacomo Simonetta he was 1537-1561 Bishop of Pesaro and also in 1540-1549 Rome as a trainee at the signature act. 1545-48 he took part in the 1st period of the Council of Trent . In 1560 Simonetta Datar became Pope Pius IV and created by him cardinal on February 26, 1561 in Rome , where he received the titular church of San Ciriaco alle Terme Diocleziane . As one of the papal legates and main representative of the curial party, he took part in the 3rd session of the Tridentine (1562/63) . From November 1566 he was cardinal priest of Sant'Anastasia .
