Ludvík Václavek

Ludvík Václavek (born April 28, 1931 in Olomouc ) is a Czech Germanist who specializes primarily in German-language literature in the Bohemian countries .

Life

Ludvík Václavek completed his studies in German and Czech philology at the Philosophical Faculty of the Palacký University in Olomouc in 1955 . Between 1955 and 1965 he worked as an assistant and dealt with the history of German literature. From 1969 to 1972 he worked at the Masaryk University in Brno. After the Velvet Revolution he returned to the Palacký University. There he was dean (1989–1994) and head of the Institute for German and Dutch Studies (1994–1998). In 1990 he was appointed professor .
