Ludwig Arnold Mohler

Ludwig Arnold Mohler (born July 16, 1883 in Mannheim , † December 25, 1943 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German church historian .

Life

From 1903 to 1907 he studied theology in Freiburg im Breisgau. From 1907 to 1910 he was a pastor in Meersburg and Karlsruhe . From 1910 to 1912 he studied philosophy in Freiburg im Breisgau and Heidelberg. From 1910 to 1915 he was a member of the Historical Institute of the Görres Society in Rome . After the religion teacher examination in 1911, he was chaplain from 1915 to 1918 during the First World War. After the doctorate Dr. phil. In 1912 in Freiburg im Breisgau, he represented the chair for church history in Münster from 1920 to 1935 . After receiving his doctorate in 1918 for Dr. theol. in Freiburg and the habilitation in 1920 for council history and church history of the Orient by the theological faculty of the University of Freiburg im Breisgau , he became an associate professor for church history at the University of Freiburg in 1924. In 1935 he became a full professor for church history, Christian dogma history and archeology at the University of Würzburg . In 1937 he became a full professor for church history in the Middle Ages and modern times at the LMU Munich . After the Catholic Theological Faculty of the LMU Munich was closed in 1939, he was a full professor of church history at the University of Freiburg. From 1940 to 1943 he was dean of the theological faculty at the University of Freiburg.
