Ludwig Boehme

Ludwig Böhme (* 1979 in Rodewisch ) is a German singer ( baritone ) and choir conductor.

biography

Ludwig Böhme is the son of the Leipzig Thomas organist Ullrich Böhme and the pianist and university professor Martina Böhme. He had piano and singing lessons at pre-school age. From 1989 to 1998 he was a member of the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir , where he was the first prefect of the choir and from 2001 to 2002 also assistant to the St. Thomas Cantor .

After graduating from the Thomasschule in Leipzig , he studied choral conducting with Georg Christoph Biller , conducting with Horst Neumann, singing with Dirk Schmidt and piano with Markus Tomas at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He passed his diploma with a thesis on Josquin des Préz with distinction. He then completed postgraduate studies with Roland Börger, which he completed in 2007 with the concert exam. This was followed by a teaching position for choral conducting at the Evangelical College for Church Music in Halle .

Ludwig Böhme is co-founder of the award-winning Calmus Ensemble Leipzig . Since 2002 he has been director of the Josquin des Préz chamber choir, which is dedicated to early music . In this function he is co-initiator of the 2004 project "Josquin - The Project", which together with the Josquin des Préz chamber choir has performed all the works of the Renaissance master in Leipzig within 13 years. After 36 concerts, the project was completed on September 3, 2017 in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig .

Since April 2012, Ludwig Böhme has been directing the Josquin des Pré z chamber choir as successor to Helmut Klotz and the Leipzig Synagogal Choir .

Ludwig Böhme is married to the educationalist Katja Böhme, the couple have two children.
