Ludwig David Morenz

Ludwig David Morenz (born April 4, 1965 in Leipzig ) is a German Egyptologist .

Ludwig David Morenz, son of the Egyptologist Siegfried Morenz , studied Oriental archeology at the University of Halle from 1985 to 1990 , specializing in Egyptology , Coptic Studies and Ancient Near Eastern Studies , as well as Classical Archeology . In 1990 he wrote his thesis with the title: The memorial stones of the First Intermediate Period from Gebelein . From 1990 to 1993 he studied Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies and the history of religion at the University of Leipzig with the aim of obtaining a doctorate . In February and March 1992 he took part in an excavation campaign in Tell Bubastis . In 1994 he received his doctorate with the thesis Contributions to the Egyptian literacy culture of the Middle Kingdom and the Second Intermediate Period . The work was published in 1996. In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen . The habilitation thesis reads history (s) of the time of the regions ( first interim period ) in the mirror of the Gebelein region . In 2002 he was re-qualified at the Faculty of History, Art and Oriental Studies at the University of Leipzig. Since 2009 he has been Professor of Egyptology in Bonn .

Morenz is involved in excavations in Moalla / Nag Abu Said, in collaboration with M. Collier (University of Liverpool), and the region of Heluan , in collaboration with K. Dawood (SCA) and P. Kousoulis (University of the Aegean) .
