Ludwig Denz (born January 1, 1949 in Friedenfels near Weiden) is a former German soccer player who played for TSV 1860 Munich , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , Hannover 96 , 1. FC Saarbrücken and SpVgg Fürth .

Life

Ludwig Denz began playing football at his home TSV Friedenfels (Northern Bavaria, Upper Palatinate ). At the age of 18 he moved to SpVgg Wiesau with whom he played in the regional league Upper Franconia East and in 1968 was promoted to the regional league Bavaria North. In January 1969 he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg where he was only used in the Bayern League . There the Munich Lions became aware of him and signed the striker for the Bundesliga team. From 1969 to 1970 Denz played for TSV 1860 Munich three times in the Bundesliga in which he scored 1 goal. He also played for the Lions in the 1970/71 season 21 games in the Regionalliga Süd in which he scored seven goals. In total, he came to 24 games with eight goals for the Lions. Since the Lions did not regain promotion he moved to the Bundesliga in 1971 to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , where he made 34 appearances in the Bundesliga in the 1971/72 season in which he scored three goals. In 1972 he moved to Hannover 96 where he scored 7 goals in 63 games. After Hanover's relegation from the Bundesliga in 1974, he moved to the 2nd League South for 1. FC Saarbrücken . From 1974 to 1981 he came to 240 games in the Bundesliga and the 2nd division in which he scored 44 goals. With 1. FC Saarbrücken, Ludwig Denz became champion of the 2. League South and celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga. In the 1981/82 season he played 28 games for SpVgg Fürth in which he scored two goals. He then moved to the Bavarian League Middle for SpVgg Weiden with which he was promoted to the Bavarian League in 1985. After 102 games for Weiden, in which he still scored four goals, Denz ended his active career in 1986.

During his career, the attacking midfielder played a total of 162 Bundesliga games in which he scored 20 goals. In addition, he came in 206 second division games on 37 goals and in 21 regional league games on seven goals.
