Ludwig Gerdes

Ludwig "Lutz" Gerdes (born August 1, 1928 - December 12, 2017 ) was a German football player .

Career

The striker Ludwig Gerdes began his career at Borussia Rheine and moved to VfL Osnabrück in the summer of 1951 and one year later became runner-up in the first-class Oberliga Nord behind Hamburger SV . At the same time, Gerdes moved to Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the Oberliga West before moving to VfR Kirn in the Oberliga Südwest in 1953 . He stayed in Kirn for only one year and returned to his home club Borussia Rheine in 1954, with whom he was promoted to the Landesliga Westfalen . In the 1955/56 season Gerdes played again for VfL Osnabrück, before he let his career end with Raspo Osnabrück from 1956 . Ludwig Gerdes completed a total of 55 league games in which he scored 23 goals. Later he was still active as a trainer, including at Sportfreunde Lotte .
