FC Cologne and Hansa Rostock . Ludwig Gerdes played in the top league at the time for VfL Osnabrück , Schwarz-Weiß Essen and VfR Kirn .

On June 22, 1969, Borussia Rheine merged with VfL 1926 Rheine to form Rot-Weiß Rheine . This club merged in turn on June 27, 1971 with FC Rheine to form VfB Rheine , which merged with SG Eintracht Rheine on July 10, 1994 to form today's FC Eintracht Rheine .
