List of West German football champions 1903–1933

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of West German soccer champions includes all champions of the West German game association from 1902 to 1933 as well as the champions of the regional game classes of that time. On October 23, 1898, the Rheinische Spiel-Verband was founded, which from November 21, 1900 was called the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Spiel-Verband . On May 12, 1907, the name West German Game Association was finally adopted. In March 1935 the association was dissolved.

The mode of the West German championship changed several times over the years. First, the district champions in the league system determined the West German champions, then the competition was played in the knockout system . Initially, only the West German champions qualified for the finals for the German championship . No West German championship was played between 1914 and 1919 because of the First World War . From 1925 the West German Game Association was allowed to send three teams to the German championship. The West did not produce a German master before the introduction of the Gauligen .
