A fourth district was established with the district of Mark. First district masters were determined in the districts. The four district champions determined the West German champions in the league system.
There are two tables for the final round of the West German championship. Football historian Hardy Green published a table in 1996 according to which five of the twelve games were not played. Since the clubs Cölner FC 1899 and Duisburger SpV each won once against the other, a playoff was scheduled. The German Sports Club for Football Statistics (DSFS) published a table in 2009 according to which some games were rated. According to this table, Cöln and Duisburg were equal on points and had to play a decider.
