The football department, with 366 members, makes up the largest part of the club. In 1928 the club reached the second round of the German soccer championship, which was lost 1: 3 against Tennis Borussia Berlin . In the 1990s, the football department experienced a renaissance. Between 1992 and 1996 they played in the Oberliga Nordrhein and thus in the third highest or, after the establishment of the Regionalliga in 1994, fourth highest German division. Bundesliga players such as Peter Loontiens , Branko Rodosek , Wolfram Klein and Klaus-Dieter Dieckmann were involved in the success of that time under coach Horst Riege . Under coach Michael Hackfurt, he was promoted to the state league in 2007. From 2009 to 2012 Thomas Kerwer coached the first team in the district league. After several unsuccessful attempts to get promoted to the national league, the team broke up, also due to the announcement by the board of directors that it would invest little money. In August 2012, the first team withdrew from the district league, making them the first relegated team of the 2012/13 season.
The second team, which was trained by former Bundesliga keeper Werner Vollack from the 2012/13 season , surprisingly won the Krefeld city championship in August 2012. The first team had already achieved this in 2011.
athletics
The athletics department became famous through the relay world record holder and Olympic champion from 1928 in the 4 x 100 meter relay Hubert Houben , after whom the Hubert Houben arena in Krefeld is named, and Kriemhild Limberg, née. Hausmann , who won a bronze medal in the discus throw at the European Championships in 1958 .
canoe
The canoe department was founded in 1927. Activities are hiking trips at home and abroad on calm and fast flowing waters. In 1978 in Krefeld-Rheinhafen on Bataverstr. 16 built their own boathouse. The Canoe Department has been a registered association since 1984. The association currently has 90 members (as of January 1, 2010).
ice Hockey
The city of Krefeld had two ice hockey clubs in the years after the Second World War . The Hockey during this period was dominated by the southern German, especially Bavarian clubs, so it was extraordinary that a medium-sized, west German city had (almost 250,000 inhabitants), two first-class clubs.
In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Preussen Krefeld was considered the technically best German team. It was once, in the season 1950/1951 , German champion . On March 2, 1951, the Prussians were able to defeat EV Füssen 3-2 after falling 2-0 down . In the years before and shortly thereafter, they always failed due to the robust toughness of the Bavarian teams, primarily at SC Riessersee .

Preussen Krefeld was the winner of the DEV Cup in 1958 . One of the problems with ice hockey in Krefeld was that until 1964 the Rheinlandhalle alone was available with only one ice rink and thus too little training time for two clubs. In the late 1950s, the Krefeld ice hockey clubs mostly only fought to stay in the Bundesliga, while the Prussians had to play twice in the second division. Most of the time, the Krefelder EV (KEV) was able to place itself in front of the Prussians. The financially troubled Prussians had to stop playing in July 1971. The Prussian players were incorporated into the then KEV. Figure skating was a division of the KTSV until the 1990s.
EHC Krefeld Niederrhein
A new ice hockey department of the KTSV Preussen was created through the entry of the EHC Krefeld Niederrhein - the Prussians.
On March 22, 1978, the Krefeld ice skating club was founded in 1978 by students from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. The club limited itself to amateur hockey and played in the regional league of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1979. In January 2009 the ice hockey department of the ice skating club was spun off under the name EHC Krefeld Niederrhein. The club gave itself as Prussia as a nickname and uses a logo with the traditional eagle. With the spin-off, the club was also run more professionally, including by ex-national player Udo Kießling . The game operations are carried out by the DEC Deineishockeyclub, where, similar to the Ebbsfleet United model , the members could directly influence the management of the club via an internet portal.
For the 2011/12 season , a syndicate of the EHC Krefeld Niederrhein with the Krefelder EV 1981 under the name Preussen Krefeld took part in the Oberliga West. The following year , the KEV took over the place and the EHC started again in the district league.
