Ludwig Hugo Ripping
Ludwig Hugo Ripping (rarely Hugo Ripping ; born October 27, 1837 in Gieboldehausen ; † February 8, 1898 in Wiesbaden ) was a German psychiatrist .
Life
Ripping was the son of a doctor and studied law and then medicine at the University of Göttingen . From 1863 to 1865 he worked as an assistant at the pathological institute in Göttingen. Meanwhile he was licensed as a doctor in Hanover in 1864 . It was during this time that he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . In 1865 he started his career as a psychiatrist. First he became a temporary assistant doctor under Ludwig Snell at the Heil- und Pflege-Anstalt in Hildesheim . There he rose to become the first assistant doctor.
In 1871 Ripping moved to the Rheinische Provinzial-Irren-Heilanstalt zu Siegburg as the second doctor , where he became director in 1875 and which he finally took over in 1876. In 1878 he and his staff moved to the newly built provincial insane asylum in Düren , which he took over as head. In 1884 he was appointed to the Medical Council and in 1897 to the Secret Medical Council. In its final years, ripping became increasingly ailing. On November 1, 1997, the company finally retired.
Ripping spent his retirement in Wiesbaden.
