The Helios Klinikum Hildesheim is a hospital of specialized care at the Senator-Braun-Allee 33 in Hildesheim . The carrier is Helios . It is the academic teaching hospital of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) .

The hospital has 566 beds and 1,309 employees, including 257 doctors and 439 nurses. In 2017, 25,359 inpatients and 76,828 outpatients were treated. Partly inpatients were not cared for. The palliative care ward has ten places and a roof terrace.

history

In 1838 the first city hospital was opened in Hildesheim; it emerged from the merger of several smaller hospitals in Hildesheim. In November 1894 and 1895 the municipal hospital was opened at the Weinberg 1 site; Full operation of the 163 beds began on January 2, 1896. In 1935, the previous facility of the Helios Clinic Diekholzen was opened in Hildesheim-Alfeld. In 1945 the British military government confiscated the building and built a hospital there for sick and displaced foreigners in the wake of World War II. In 1947 a tuberculosis home was built on the premises of the Helios Klinik Diekholzen; In 1949 this tuberculosis home was expanded and added to the Diekholzen district hospital.

The Hildesheim Clinic at Weinberg 1 received a new children's clinic in 1954. At the same location, a seven-story ward block and anesthesia department were opened in 1962, a gynecological clinic in 1965 and a radiology department in 1966. In 1979 the psychosomatic department was opened in the children's clinic (pediatric psychosomatic medicine). On January 1, 1986, the Hildesheim Municipal Clinic was established. In 1994 the building complex was expanded to include a new building for trauma surgery and intensive care units.

On January 1, 2005, the previously municipal hospital in Hildesheim was privatized by means of a sale to Rhön-Klinikum AG .

In September 2011 the clinic was opened on the site of the former Ledebur barracks of the German armed forces; the new building started in 2005.

On January 1, 2014, the house moved from Rhön-Klinikum AG to the Helios hospital group . In 2017 the foundation stone was laid for an extension, the fourth ward block. In September 2018, the Helios Lung Clinic Diekholzen at the Diekholzen location was closed and integrated into the Helios Clinic Hildesheim.
