Ludwig III. (Anjou)
Ludwig III. of Anjou (born September 25, 1403 , † November 12, 1434 in Cosenza ) was titular king of Naples , Duke of Anjou and Touraine , Count of Provence and Maine .
His parents were Louis II of Anjou and Jolanthe of Aragón , daughter of King John I of Aragón . After the death of King Martin I of Aragón , Louis was considered a candidate for the succession in Aragón until the compromise of Caspe . After the death of his father in 1417, Pope Martin V crowned him titular king of Sicily on December 4, 1419 and of Naples in 1420 . In 1423 he was adopted by Queen Joan II of Naples . Shortly after his marriage to Margaret of Savoy (1420–1479) on August 31, 1432, Ludwig fell ill with malaria and died in Cosenza . His brother Rene I of Anjou took over his inheritance.
