Ludwig Mayer (physician)

Ludwig Mayer (born March 10, 1839 in Regensburg , † July 24, 1878 in Munich ) was a German medic .

Mayer attended a grammar school in Regensburg and then studied medicine at the University of Munich from 1857 , where he also received his doctorate in 1862. After a few years as an assistant at a clinic in Munich, he went on a scientific journey that took him to Würzburg and Berlin. After his return to Munich he became the personal physician of the Duke of Bavaria and his family and worked as a surgeon and in ear medicine. In 1867 he became a private lecturer at the medical faculty in Munich and subsequently published numerous papers on the subject of surgery. In 1870 he became senior physician at the municipal clinic on the right of the Isar and was head of the hospital for wounded in Oberwiesenfeld during the Franco-German War. On July 24, 1878, he died of meningitis.
