Ludwig Richter (born August 15, 1855 in Vienna ; † September 8, 1925 there ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Ludwig Richter was the son of a building councilor. From 1874 to 1877 he attended the civil engineering school at the Technical University under Heinrich von Ferstel and Karl König in Vienna. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Theophil von Hansen from 1877 to 1879. Richter made study trips to many European countries and also to North America. In 1880 he began to work as a freelance architect. In 1911 he became a Knight of the Order of the Iron Crown III. Class (but without elevation to the nobility), 1913 senior building officer.

Ludwig Richter built in a rather conservative late historicism . He created representative palaces and residential buildings, as well as sacred buildings outside Vienna. Many of his buildings are free-standing on three sides.

Ludwig Richter also built the palace of the Austrian embassy in Sofia as well as a hospital and school in Istanbul .
