Ludwig Schmidt (theologian)

Ludwig Schmidt (born August 11, 1940 in Heilbronn ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

From 1959 to 1964 he studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Heidelberg , Bonn and Göttingen and completed the vicariate in the Evangelical Church in Baden . From 1965 to 1973 he was a research assistant at the Church University Berlin , where in 1969 he received his doctorate and in 1973 habilitation . He worked in Berlin from 1973 to 1974 as a parish priest and from 1974 to 1980 as a lecturer at the church college. From 1980 to 2005 he held the chair for the Old Testament (history and literary history) at the theological faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .
