Donat Ludwig (Louis) Vay (born September 22, 1850 in Kissingen ; † June 6, 1938 there ) was an independent master plumber in Bad Kissingen. After several foundations, he was made an honorary citizen of the city.

Life

Vay probably came from a once Hungarian family who first appeared in Bad Kissingen around 1750. He was the fifth and youngest child of the Bad Kissingen master weaver Anton Georg Vay (1816–1902) and Margarethe Ress (1811–1880). In Bad Kissingen he lived with his family in house number 201, from 1888 in Maxstraße 312/313.

On July 29, 1886, Vay acquired Bad Kissingen citizenship . In the course of his successful professional life, he bought several properties and houses on Maxstrasse. He was a member of the city council of Bad Kissingen.

Vay was involved in the social life of his hometown, was for many years a member and most recently the commander of the Bad Kissingen volunteer fire brigade , which named “ her loyal comrade and first commander ” on February 4, 1915 as her “ honorary commander ”.

In 1917 his hometown made him honorary citizen and granted him an entry in the city's Golden Book . This should have been thanks for the fact that Vay had previously donated a plot of land on Maxstraße to the city, which today makes up half of Kliegl- Platz.

Vay married Maria Vogel on October 12, 1875 in Bad Kissingen. The couple had three sons: Franz (1876–1952), Ludwig (1878–1933) and Georg (1884–1885).
