from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilhelm Julius Ludwig von Ellrichshausen (born April 17, 1789 in Assumstadt , † April 11, 1832 in Hohenheim ) was the owner of the manor and director of the agricultural and forestry school in Hohenheim .

Life

Ellrichshausen created exemplary agricultural and forestry conditions on his estate in Assumstadt, which he managed himself from 1813 on. Among other things, he introduced the four-field economy based on the Norfolk model and, in 1821, the Brabanter plow , increased sheep breeding and promoted cheese making . In 1828 he founded a teaching institute for farmers and foresters in Assumstadt, before he was appointed head of the agricultural and forestry school in Hohenheim that same year as the successor to Johann Nepomuk Hubert von Schwerz .

He had a workshop on his estate in Assumstadt in order to be able to test his innovations in practice quickly and without much formalism. In addition to the “square Assumstadt sheep rack”, this also included the “single-horse Assumstadt crash barrow”, which automatically returned to horizontal position after the goods had been tipped as soon as the horse started moving again.

politics

From 1825 to 1831 Ludwig von Ellrichshausen was a member of the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament for the knighthood of the Neckar district .
