Ludwig von Salm

Ludwig Albrecht Constantin Maria von Salm-Hoogstraeten (born February 24, 1885 in Homburg vor der Höhe , † July 23, 1944 in Budapest ) was an Austrian count and tennis player.

Graf von Salm took part in tennis tournaments from 1906. In 1912 he played at the Olympic Games in Stockholm and reached the quarter-finals. In 1913 he went to the Wimbledon Championships for the first time , but was eliminated in the second round against the Englishman C. Moore. In 1914 he reached the final of the hard court world championships in Paris, but had to admit defeat to Anthony Wilding in three sets.

After the First World War , Salm played regularly at the international French championships from 1926 to 1932 , but never got beyond the second round there. Between 1924 and 1928 he also took part in the Davis Cup for the Austrian team and was able to win all three of his singles and one of five doubles during this time. After 1932 he ended his tennis career.

He died in Budapest in 1944 at the age of 59.
