Ludwig Carl Hans Freiherr von Schleinitz (born April 13, 1763 in Braunschweig , † November 1, 1825 in Grzyn , Kulm district ) was a Prussian civil servant. He was district administrator of the Marienwerder district in West Prussia .

Life

Ludwig Freiherr von Schleinitz came from the old Meissen noble family von Schleinitz , who were raised to the status of imperial baron in the 16th century. He was the third-born son of the Braunschweig secret legation councilor and Minister Hans Christoph Freiherr von Schleinitz (1703–1782) and his wife Wilhelmine, born von Westernhagen from Eichsfeld. The Brunswick Chamber Court President Karl Freiherr von Schleinitz (1751–1807) and Wilhelm Karl Ferdinand von Schleinitz (1756–1837) were his older brothers.

He received private lessons and from the age of 13 attended the Collegium Carolinum in Braunschweig. Then, like many members of his aristocratic family, after completing the military training customary for many nobles between 1779 and 1785, he embarked on an administrative career in the service of the King of Prussia. After a time as a war and domain councilor, he was elected district administrator of the Marienwerder district in West Prussia in 1796 . The king confirmed him in 1797 in this office. After the lost battle near Jena and Auerstedt in 1806, he said goodbye, but is said to have been employed as district administrator in the Rosenberg district for some time .

family

Ludwig Carl Hans Freiherr von Schleinitz married Caroline Sophie Tugendreich Freiin von Hoverbeck from the Geierswalde family. After her death, he married the widowed Wilhelmine Charlotte Friederike Elisabeth von Hoeringen, née von Hahn, from the Charlottenthal family. His wife, who was born in Eldena in Mecklenburg in 1780, survived him by two years. The two sons August (1805–1873) and Karl (1809–1878) emerged from this marriage.
