The Lufira is a river in Malawi .

It rises in the rainy Musuku Hills 20 kilometers east of Chitipa and flows into Lake Malawi after only 70 kilometers about 10 kilometers north of Karonga .
The river is not to be confused with the Lufira (Lualaba) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the FAO, the rivers Bua , Dwangwa , Lilongwe , Lufira, Northern Rukuru , Songwe and Southern Rukuru together have a fishing potential of 15,000 t per year. Between 4,000 and 17,000 t are actually caught.
