Luigi Filippo D'Amico (born October 9, 1924 in Rome , † April 28, 2007 there ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director .

Life

D'Amico, a descendant of the great theater critic Silvio D'Amico , had also worked as a critic for the performing arts since his youth, but turned to the field of film. For this he used the pseudonym "Filippo Mercati" , just like at the beginning of his phase as an assistant director . From 1946 to 1955 he helped and as a screenwriter for directors such as Marcello Pagliero , Alberto Lattuada and Luchino Visconti and then switched to the director's chair himself.

His first work Bravissimo showed Alberto Sordi in an original comedy and was followed by relatively few works in the years up to 1975, most of which can be assigned to easy themes and genres. After that he worked a few more times for television. Among his works, for which almost without exception he had also written the books, the contributions to the episode films I complessi and I nostri mariti stand out.

In 2006 he took part in a radio project lasting several hours in honor of Luigi Pirandello , about whom he had shot a television series Die Welt des Pirandello in 1968, a . a. as an interview partner.
