Luigi Forlano (born July 5, 1884 in Rocchetta Tanaro , Italy , † July 16, 1916 in Opatje selo , Austria-Hungary ) was an Italian football player .

Career

Luigi Forlano was one of the group of 13 students from the Turin Massimo-d'Azeglio high school who founded the Juventus Turin football club on November 1, 1897 . The offensive player, who later worked as a surveyor , is considered the first center forward in the history of the club, for whom he completed 17 championship games until 1905 and scored four goals. With Juve he won the first Italian championship title in the club's history in 1905 , to which he contributed three goals in four games in the final round from March 5 to April 9.

After winning the title in 1905 Forlano moved to local rivals FC Torinese . From 1908 to 1909 he played for AC Milan , then he played for a club in Stresa on Lake Maggiore .

Luigi Forlano died in the First World War on July 16, 1916 at the age of 32 in Opatje selo , Austria-Hungary on the territory of what is now Slovenia , where he fought as an officer of the Bersaglieri . His son Bruno, who was also a footballer and played for Novara Calcio , died in the Soviet Union during World War II .
