Luigi Gioli (born November 16, 1854 in San Frediano a Settimo , Grand Duchy of Tuscany ; died October 27, 1947 in Florence ) was an Italian painter, etcher and lithographer. He belonged to the second generation of the Tuscan painters group of Macchiaioli , the Postmacchiaioli.

Life

Luigi Gioli was a son of Ranieri Gioli and Rosa Del Panta, an older brother Francesco Gioli (1846-1922) was also a painter of the Macchiaioli. Gioli first studied law. He also attended the Accademia di belle arti di Pisa.

Gioli became an outdoor painter . He exhibited at the art exhibition in Venice in 1887 and was represented with a landscape painting from the Maremma at the Paris World Exhibition in 1889 . At the turn of the century he painted with his brother on the Adriatic .

Since the 1890s he worked in the Società di belle arti di Firenze and was regularly represented at national art fairs, for example at the third international art exhibition in Venice in 1899 and in 1906 at the exhibition of Italian painters held at the same time as the world exhibition in Milan .

Gioli illustrated the story of Tornan di Maremma in Renato Fucini 's new edition of Veglie di Neri .

He lived near Fauglia .
