Luis Juan del Milà

Luis Juan del Milà , Valencian Lluís Joan del Milà (* approx. 1432/33 in Xàtiva , Spain, † December 9, 1510 in Bélgida ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Milà's mother was the sister of Pope Kalixt III. and he himself was a cousin of Pope Alexander VI.

Studying canon law in Bologna for some time , on August 8, 1447 he became canon of the collegiate church of Xàtiva and provost of Valencia . From this time comes a son, Jaime de Milà y de Borja.

Elected bishop of Segorbe-Albarracin on January 29, 1453 , he became governor of Bologna on June 13, 1455 . Since February 20, 1456 cardinal in pectore , Pope Kalixt III published his name on September 17, 1456 and appointed him cardinal priest of the titular church Ss. Quattro Coronati . After a few months in Rome, he left the city again and went back to Bologna as the papal legate a latere . After the election of Pope Pius II , Milà found himself in his environment. After he was transferred from Segorbe to the diocese of Lérida on October 7, 1459 , he finally returned to Spain at the end of 1468.

Milà was also abbot of San Vicente (Spain) and Saint-Benigne in Dijon . He took part in the conclave of 1458 , but not those of 1484 and 1492 .
