Luis Laorga

Luis Laorga Gutiérrez (born January 5, 1919 in Madrid ; † November 5, 1990 there ) was a Spanish architect .

Life

Luis Laorga studied architecture at the Escuela Politécnica in his native Madrid and won the national prize when he graduated in 1946. During his studies he became friends with Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza . Together they submitted a design for the redesign of the square around the Segovia aqueduct . They won the competition and were also awarded the National Architecture Prize in 1947. They also worked together later, such as B. in the restoration of the pilgrimage church Arantzazu in 1950. In 1955 Laorga began to work with José López Zanón, among other things on various university buildings. Recently, they have been increasingly involved in social housing.

In 1981 Laorga suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and had to give up his job. He died in 1990.
