Luis Piazza (born January 29, 1908 in Ortisei in Val Gardena , † November 15, 1977 there ) was a sculptor from Val Gardena .

biography

Born at the Cudan farm, he spent a long time in the nearby Raschötzer Forest as a shepherd of the farm's animals. He learned the art of sculpture in the workshop of his father Johann Piazza. He attended the art school in St. Ulrich under Ludwig Moroder , Guido Balsamo Stella and Adolf Keim. He taught at the same art school from 1943 to 1975.

In 1958 Luis Piazza was with Robert Moroder, Alex Moroder , Albino Pitscheider, Hermann Moroder, Gilo Prugger and Heinrich Moroder sen. Co-founder of the Val Gardena Museum in Ortisei. He worked in the circle of artists and in the Ruscel group in Ortisei at annual exhibitions and was a member of the South Tyrolean Artists Association .

When sawing a tree trunk, Piazza had a fatal accident in the Raschötzer Forest.

Works

He created numerous works from the down-to-earth black Bellerophon rock . Luis Piazza also worked as a watercolorist of mountain landscapes, but also experimented with abstract painting.
