Luis Tróccoli

Luis Tróccoli (born September 13, 1921 in Montevideo , † May 7, 1993 ) was a Uruguayan politician and journalist .

Life

Troccoli belonged to the Partido Colorado and within this the Batllismo en Idea y Acción . He sat as deputy representative for the Montevideo department from March 15, 1948 to February 14, 1951 in the Cámara de Representantes . In the 37th and 38th legislative periods he held a deputy mandate in the Senate between 1955 and 1962, with a few interruptions . From February 14, 1963 he was elected senator for the 39th legislative term. His term of office ended on February 14, 1967. During this period, he held the office of First Senate Vice President in 1966. He was also minister for the area of ​​the Court of Auditors (" Tribunal de Cuentas ") and chairman of the finance and budget committee of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. He was also a member of the governing body of the Uruguayan Football Association, the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol , for more than 20 years and represented it at CONMEBOL and FIFA congresses. He was also President of the Confederación Atlética del Uruguay (CAU).

The stadium of the football club Club Atlético Cerro , of which he was also president, bears his name, like that of the streets Dr. Pedro Castellino , Cuzco and Copiapó bordered Plaza Luis Tróccoli in Montevideo.
