Luis Velásquez

Luis Velásquez (born December 30, 1919 , † February 9, 1997 in Middlesex County , Massachusetts , United States ) was a Guatemalan long-distance runner .

At the Central American and Caribbean Games , he won silver in the half marathon in 1946 and won the 10,000 m and half marathon in 1950 .

In 1951 he won bronze at the Pan American Games marathon in Buenos Aires . The following year, on April 5, 1952, in Guatemala City, he set his personal best over this distance with 2:33:28 h. At the Olympic Games in Helsinki he came in 31st place over 10,000 m and did not reach the goal in the marathon.

He won bronze again at the 1955 Pan American Games marathon in Mexico City.
