Luisa Rõivas (born Värk; born February 6, 1987 in Elva ) is an Estonian pop and country singer.

Life

Luisa Rõivas was born as the daughter of the singer Ülo Värk and his wife Eve in the small town of Elva in southern Estonia . She took singing and piano lessons early on. Until 2002 she attended high school in Elva. In 2006 she graduated from the Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ) in the Estonian capital Tallinn . She then studied sound direction at the Baltic Film and Media College at Tallinn University until 2009 .

Career

Rõivas had her breakthrough as a singer in 2007 at the Eesti otsib superstaari competition ("Estonia is looking for the superstar"). She took second place after Birgit Õigemeel . In the fall of 2007 she was successful in the 2nd season of Tantsud tahtedega . There she also achieved second place with her dance partner Martin Parmas (* 1984).

In 2008 Luisa Rõivas took part in the Estonian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest ( Eurolaul ) with two songs, but had to be satisfied with lower places. In December 2008, her debut album was released under the title Tunnete allee ("Allee of feelings").

Luisa Rõivas has been moderating the cooking program Lemmikretsept (“The Favorite Recipe ”) on Estonian television since autumn 2013 .

Private

Luisa Rõivas is the wife of the former Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas (* 1979). The couple have a daughter (Miina Rihanna) born in 2009 and a son (Herman) born in 2016. Luisa Rõivas is the sister of the also well-known Estonian film director Emer Värk .
