The property at Luisenstraße 86 is a residential and commercial building in the Nordstadt residential area of Wuppertal in the Elberfeld district .
Building description
The simple plastered facade on the side facing Luisenstrasse of the Wilhelminian style house is structured in five axes. The ground floor has been developed as a shop , or in today's use as a café , and dominates the facade with its shop windows . The building is accessed through a centrally located entrance.
The upper part of the visible eastern gable wall is slated , and the lower part is smoothly plastered.
The saddle roof was designed with three dormers on both sides .
history
The house was entered on March 16, 1987 as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
The café "Beatz & Kekse" has been located in the shop since 2003 in the furnishing style of the 1970s, before the shop was operated under the name "Tante Luise". The operator of the restaurant "Beatz & Kekse" was allowed to operate an outdoor restaurant in the summer months.
In a fire on November 27, 2010 in an apartment on the top floor, the entire house was affected by extinguishing water . For the time being it is considered uninhabitable. The fire was triggered by welding work on the roof of the neighboring building to the east, which is set back in its alignment . The fire damage resulted in considerable material damage, according to the first investigations, which have been published by the police, this is estimated at at least 100,000 euros.
