Luka Mislej
Luka Mislej (born October 1670 in Vipavska ; † 1727 in Škofja Loka ) was a Slovenian sculptor and painter .
In 1722 the Italian sculptor Francesco Robba , who took over his studio after Mislej's death, married his daughter Theresa.
Works
Mislej was the owner of a large workshop that carried out numerous orders for the construction and furnishing of churches. Other sculptors worked there, especially Italian ones, such as Angelo Pozzo, Giacomo Conti (both from Padua ) and the aforementioned Francesco Robba. So it is still very difficult to determine what his own works actually are.
Some of his most famous works are the portal of the Ljubljana Seminary , the painted decoration of the Church of St. James in Ljubljana, the altar of the Brežice chateau chapel and the main altar of the St. Vitus Cathedral in Rijeka .
