Lukas Schaub
Lukas Schaub , also Lucas and Luke, (born May 1, 1690 in Basel , † February 27, 1758 in London ) was a British diplomat of Swiss descent.
Lukas Schaub, son of a notary, embarked on a diplomatic career in the service of Great Britain after studying law in Basel . 1715-1716 he was British chargé d'affaires with the Holy Roman Empire . 1720 he was the British King George I to Knight Bachelor beaten. 1721–1724 he was British envoy in Paris . In January 1737 he mediated the so-called salmon fishing dispute between Basel and France.
Johann Kaspar Wettstein was von Schaub's chaplain in Paris and his private secretary in London.
