Lukas Nathanael Christian Wank (born January 19, 1997 in Altenburg ) is a German basketball player on the position of the winger . Wank is 1.98 meters tall and has been part of the Bundesliga team Basketball Löwen Braunschweig since summer 2019 .

Career

Wank took his first steps in basketball at the club level at the age of 14 in his hometown at the Altenburger Basketball Club in 1996. He then moved to Science City Jena and played for the club from 2012 in the youth basketball league and from 2013 in the youngsters -Basketball Bundesliga . During the 2013/14 season he made his debut in Jena's professional team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA and was awarded a five-year contract by the club in 2014. However, after the 2015/16 season, in which he contributed to winning the ProA championship title in 14 appearances, he decided to leave Jena.

At the beginning of July 2016, Wank signed a three-year contract with Bundesliga club s.Oliver Würzburg . After only one season, in which he was mainly used with a double license in the ProB team TG s.Oliver Würzburg, Lukas Wank switched to RheinStars Cologne (ProA) at the beginning of October 2017 . For the 2018/19 season he moved within the 2nd Bundesliga ProA to BV Chemnitz 99 . With the Saxons he reached the ProA semi-finals and failed with his team in the decisive game for the entry into the final series and thus for the promotion to the Bundesliga just by Hamburg . Wank was on the field in 29 games this season for Chemnitz and averaged 9.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per match. In the summer of 2019 he signed a three-year contract with Bundesliga club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig .

National team

At the U18 European Championships in 2015, Wank advanced to the quarter-finals with the German national team. In May 2017 he was appointed to the U20 national team. At the U20 European Championship in the summer of 2017, he came seventh overall with the German team and scored an average of 3.1 points per match. In 2019 he was appointed to the A2 national team and completed his participation in the Summer Universiade in Naples in July 2019 in fifth place. In February 2020 he was in the extended squad of the senior national team for the first time.
