Jayne Kennedy Overton (born October 27, 1951 in Washington, DC ) is an American model , as well as a company spokeswoman, presenter , author and actress .

Early years

She was born Jayne Harrison in Washington, DC to Herbert Harrison and Virginia. Her father Herbert Harrison was a machinist. Kennedy went to Wickliffe High School in Wickliffe , Ohio . While still a high school student, she was voted Miss Ohio USA in 1970. She was the first African American woman to win this title. She was among the top 12 candidates in the American domestic selection for participation in the Miss Universe 1970 election .

Career

Jayne married Leon Isaac Kennedy and moved with him to California. She took acting lessons and performed as a dancer and singer on the Dean Martin Show's Ding-A-Ling isters, among others . It graced the covers of Ebony, Jet and Essence magazines. In 1978 she hosted sports news. In the early 1980s she was selling gymnastics videos called "Love Your Body". She has appeared as company spokeswoman for Esoterica, Jovan, Revlon, Fashion Fair Cosmetics, Bankers Systems, Butterick Patterns and for six years for Coca-Colas Diet Coke . In 1990 she pulled out of the limelight and worked for the Children's Miracle Network .

Personal

She married Leon Isaac Kennedy in 1970. Singer Smokey Robinson was the best man at the wedding. In 1982 the marriage was divorced. In 1985 she married Bill Overton. They have four children together.
