Luke Wilkshire (born October 2, 1981 in Wollongong , New South Wales ) is a former Australian football player and current coach.
Career
In 1998 Luke Wilkshire left Australia and went to England, where he was accepted into the youth development program of first division club Middlesbrough FC . From 2000 he also played occasionally for the Premier League team. But when he did not make it into the regular formation for the third year in a row, he moved to Bristol City in the third division shortly after the start of the 2003/04 season in order to come to regular appearances.
During his time in Middlesbrough, he also played for the Australian U-20s , and later for the country's U-23 Olympic team . He has been a member of the senior national team since 2004 . Luke Wilkshire was in Australia's squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and, although he had only played nine games before the tournament, came to two missions.
After the World Cup tournament, Wilkshire moved to the Dutch club FC Twente Enschede , where he signed a contract until 2009 .
On August 26, 2008 he moved to Russia for FK Dynamo Moscow for a transfer fee of six million euros.
With Australia he qualified for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa, where his team was eliminated in the preliminary round.
In July 2014 he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam .
