Lumbo is a small port town in the Nampula Province in Mozambique .

Lumbo lies in a wide but sheltered bay at the narrowest point of the Mozambique Strait .
Economy and Infrastructure
The city lives from fishing, the export of cashew nuts and wood as well as tourism, as the Ilha de Moçambique, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is directly opposite and the bridge leads to the island from here. Lumbo is the land side of this historically and therefore also touristically important island, which was the seat of the Portuguese governor for centuries. Lumbo has several upscale hotels.
Rail traffic to Nampula has been suspended since the civil war . The airport has no scheduled services. Only small passenger planes land here.
