The Lundström Knoll is a rocky hill about 1400 m high in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range , the Chevreul Cliffs loom northeast at Pioneers Escarpment .
Aerial photographs were taken in 1967 by the United States Navy , the British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1972 after the Swedish inventor Johan Edvard Lundström (1815–1888), who developed the first functional safety match in 1855 .
