Guadalupe Marín

María Guadalupe Preciado Marín (born October 16, 1895 in Ciudad Guzmán , Jalisco , † February 7, 1983 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican muse , model and writer .

Life

María Guadalupe Preciado Marín, known as Lupe , came from a middle-class family. In 1903 the family moved to Guadalajara where they received extensive education. In 1922 Guadalupe Marín married the painter Diego Rivera (1886–1957) in the Church of San Miguel in Guadalajara . From this marriage, which was reportedly turbulent, had two daughters: Ruth and Guadalupe.

After his trip to Russia Rivera left his wife and their daughters - a year later he married the painter Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) , his third marriage . After an initial rivalry, the two women became friends - Guadalupe Marín is said to have even taught Frida to cook, especially Rivera's favorite food. Guadalupe Marín later married the poet Jorge Cuesta (1903–1942).
