Luther House

The Lutherhaus is a listed parish hall of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany in Bitterfeld-Wolfen in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the city center of Bitterfeld at the address Binnengärtenstraße 16 .

Architecture and history

The parish hall was built in 1927, according to other information in 1928, and its design is based on baroque castles . The two-storey plastered building looks monumental and has three wings. There are side wings to the north-east and south-west, with the main wing in between, which is preceded by a terrace with a large open staircase at the rear . The main wing has a distinctive three- story central risalit and is covered by a curved hipped roof. The facade is characterized by serrated cornices designed in the style of Expressionism .

From 1990 to 1992 the house was renovated and partially rebuilt.

In the house there is a large hall for up to 150 people and a room for up to 40 people.

The parish hall houses the office of the local parish and serves as a meeting place for various church and non-church groups. In addition, there is the center of open child and youth work of the Wittenberg church district. There are also five rental apartments in the building. The house is an important testimony to social history.

In the local register of monuments , the parish hall is registered as an architectural monument under registration number 094 17609 .
