The Luther Church is the Evangelical Lutheran town church of Georgsmarienhütte .

For the workers' colony, which became independent in 1860, a separate vicar, Hermann Daniel Mauersberg, was employed for the first time on December 23, 1866, who was responsible for the pastor of St. Katharinen in Osnabrück and the preacher of Iburg castle . The independent parish was founded on April 24, 1873, Mauersberg becomes its first pastor. The patronage was transferred to the Georgs-Marien-Bergwerks- und Hüttenverein .

In 1877 the construction of the neo-Gothic hall church began on a cross-shaped floor plan according to plans by Conrad Wilhelm Hase , who also designed the interior. The foundation stone was laid on July 15, 1877; the church was consecrated on June 2, 1878. At the same time, the identical plan of St. Luke's Church in Lauenau was built , which was inaugurated in May 1878.

In terms of color, the wall and vaulted surfaces made of gray cinder blocks of the ironworks dominate, sandstone-colored wall surfaces inside, interrupted by pillars and slopes made of red bricks, as well as ocher-colored window frames. On the west side is the square 45.60 m high tower with a cock on top.

The largest bronze bell was melted down from the original bell during the First World War . Three new steel bells were cast by the Bochumer Verein in 1921/22 . The bell is a foundation of the commercial council and church leader Ernst Stahmer . The reliefs of the 4 evangelists that adorn the pulpit were designed by the Osnabrück sculptor Lukas Memken (1860–1934).

In 1970 the third organ, built by Wilhelm Wolfram from Bissendorf , was procured. The interior of the church itself was extensively renovated in 1988 and restored in such a way that it can now be seen in its original color scheme.
