The St. Lukas Church is the Evangelical Lutheran church of Lauenau in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony . The neo-Gothic church was built from 1877 to 1879 according to plans by Conrad Wilhelm Hase .

history

In the Middle Ages, Schwedesdorf / Lauenau belonged to the parish of Apelern . The first parish church of its own was only built on the official moat after the Reformation in 1578.

After the middle of the 19th century, it became dilapidated and too small for the grown community, so a new building was built. The foundation stone was laid in July 1877, the inauguration in May 1878. The Luther Church in Georgsmarienhütte was built at the same time according to the same design by Conrad Wilhelm Hase . The organ, the prospect of which was also designed by Hase, was built by the Furtwängler company in 1879. The church was given the name of the Evangelist Lukas in 1962.

architecture

St. Luke is a neo-Gothic geostete hall church from brick with vierjochigem nave , transept and polygonal closing chorus . The side aisles are divided into two floors by galleries . The square bell tower with a pointed helmet rises above the portal, flanked by wing extensions. Particular care was taken in the ornamental design of the transept gable based on the North German brick Gothic. Inside, the white plastered vaults and walls contrast with the stone-faced columns, arches and vault ribs .
