Life

After high school in 1986 in Dresden, he then made a professional training for toolmakers . From 1989 to 1995 he studied physics and mathematics at the University of Hanover . He initially worked in school and then went from 1998 to 2006 as a specialist lecturer for physics and mathematics at Cornelsen Verlag . After graduating as Dr. rer. nat. At the Institute for Physics at the University of Potsdam with the work Discursive-narrative elements for physics lessons: Development and evaluation of a multimedia learning environment on geomagnetism , he was a research assistant there from 2007 to 2009 .

In the summer semester of 2009, Kasper took over a professorship for didactics of physics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and then became an academic assistant at the Freiburg University of Education until 2011 .

2012 was followed by Kasper a call to the professor of physics and its didactics at the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd . Also in 2012, he turned down another appointment to a professorship for didactics of physics and chemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg .

In 2016, Kasper took on a visiting professorship in the Department of Physics at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Michigan (USA).

Research priorities

Kasper researches linguistic aspects when learning physics and science communication in experiments, in particular using mobile devices such as smartphones. He is also involved in the development and evaluation of media for physics classes. He is also interested in regional technical and didactic references, for example in Agnes Banholzer's work in Schwäbisch Gmünd .
