Lutz Kruschwitz

Lutz Kruschwitz (born January 30, 1943 in Berlin ) is a German professor emeritus for banking and finance at the Free University of Berlin .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1962, which Kruschwitz took at the Humanist High School in Berlin-Steglitz , he completed a two-year training course as an industrial clerk at Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG in Berlin and Erlangen. From 1964 to 1968 he studied business administration at what was then the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the Free University of Berlin. In 1970 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD with a dissertation on in-house production and external procurement. In 1975 he received a habilitation with a venia legendi for business administration (which was rather unusual for the time, because it was cumulative).

From 1971 to 1975 Kruschwitz was an assistant professor at the Institute for Business Management, specializing in business accounting, at the Free University of Berlin. From 1975 to 1983 he was Professor of General Business Administration at the Technical University of Berlin . From 1983 to 1985, Kruschwitz represented investment and finance at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1985 he accepted a professorship for business administration, in particular investment and finance, at the University of Lüneburg . Since 1991 he has been a university professor for business administration, particularly banking and finance, at the Free University of Berlin, where he retired in 2010.

Kruschwitz declined calls to the Universities of Kassel (1985), Vienna (1990) and Potsdam (1993).

In 2005 and 2006 he was deputy chairman of the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration

Kruschwitz is married and has three children.

Awards

In 2003 the Faculty of Economics and Computer Science at the University of Vienna appointed him honorary professor. In 2006 the Faculty of Economics at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen awarded him an honorary doctorate (Dr. rer. Pol. Hc). In 2007 he and Andreas Löffler received the textbook award from the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration for the work “Discounted Cash Flow”. In 2013 Kruschwitz was made an honorary member of the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration.
