Lutz Modes
Lutz Modes (born December 19, 1944 in Dresden ) was a German entrepreneur and general director of the VEB heavy machinery construction combine "Karl Liebknecht" Magdeburg .
Life
After elementary and high school, Modes completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical draftsman . In 1959 he joined the FDJ . From 1964 to 1970 he studied materials technology and metal forming at the Bergakademie Freiberg . He completed his studies with a degree in metallurgy . He then worked between 1970 and 1975 as a metallurgist and employee of the operations director in the VEB pressing and forging works "Einheit" in Brand-Erbisdorf . In 1972 he joined the SED . After working as a research assistant to the director of operations in 1976/1977, he was director of technology in 1977 and 1978. In 1978/1979 he graduated from the SED district party school in Mittweida . In 1980 he received his doctorate in engineering. He then became director of production and first deputy to the operations director in 1980, until he finally became operations director in 1984.
In October 1985, he succeeded Lothar Schiffel as general director of the VEB heavy machinery construction combine "Karl Liebknecht" Magdeburg, based in the Salbke district of Magdeburg, and was also operations director of the Salbker plant. In the spring of 1990 he took over the chairmanship of the board of directors of SKL Motoren- und Systemtechnik AG Magdeburg , the successor company of the combine. At the suggestion of the GDR Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière , Modes was elected to the administrative council of the Treuhandanstalt on July 5, 1990 by the People's Chamber . He held this position until November 16, 1990.
After the founding of the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry of Saxony-Anhalt on April 17, 1990, Modes became deputy chairman of the association and then took over the chairmanship after the resignation of chairman Klaus Oberländer .
After the reunification, he was the managing director of the Society for Education and Training in Hoyerswerda mbH .
