Lutz Pyritz

Lutz Pyritz (born March 5, 1958 in Seelow ; † June 1, 2018 in Dresden ) was a German jockey and equestrian trainer .

Pyritz began his apprenticeship as a racing rider in Hoppegarten in 1974 , which he completed in 1976. He was considered one of the exceptional jockeys in the GDR and won the GDR gallop derby in 1983 (on Gypsy hero), 1985 and 1990. He was also able to record other classic victories. On May 8, 1994, he set a new German record when he achieved seven victories on one race day in Dresden. Overall, he won over the course of his career as a jockey, which lasted from 1975 to 1998, in 848 flat races. There were also 23 successes in hurdles and hunting races. After the end of his career as an athlete, he took up a coaching activity in 1998.
