Luweero (sometimes "Luwero") is a medium-sized city in Uganda . It is located in the central region and is the center of both administration and trade within the Luwero district .
Geographical location
Luweero is about 65 kilometers north of Kampala , the capital of Uganda, on the main road to Masindi . The road is the main route to the north of the country.
meaning
Luweero is one of several (small) towns within the Luweero district. However, it is the seat of all authorities and institutions in the administrative district named after it. In addition, both the Anglican diocese of Luweero and the Roman Catholic diocese of Kasana-Luweero are located in Luweero .
population
As of the national census in 2002, the population of the city of Luweero was estimated of 23,500. In 2010, an estimate by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) was already around 28,800 inhabitants. A year later, UBOS corrected its estimate to 29,500. The 2014 census gave the population at 42,734.
