Lycoming LTP 101
The Lycoming LTP 101 (now Honeywell LTP 101 ) is a turboprop gas turbine for aircraft. The turbine largely corresponds to the helicopter shaft turbine Lycoming LTS 101 (today Honeywell LTS 101, meanwhile also Avco Lycoming LTS 101 or Textron LTS 101). The manufacturer is Lycoming , a US manufacturer of aircraft engines that is part of the Textron Group.
The compressor consists of an axial and a radial stage. After the combustion chamber flows backwards, the working gas is expanded in an axial turbine each for the compressor drive and the shaft drive. The turbine can drive both tension and compression screws.
FAA approval took place in 1976. The turbine was used as standard in the Piaggio P.166-DL3 and the Air Tractor AT-302 , among others . In addition, it was used for various conversions, for example a converted Dornier Do 28 D Skyservant was shown at the ILA in Hanover in 1978. It was also used in a test version with turboprop propulsion of the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander . In addition, there are a number of conversions of the Cessna 360 and Cessna 421 by Riley Aircraft Corporation .
The LTS 101 is used, among other things, to drive the Bell 222 , Eurocopter HH-65 A, MBB / Kawasaki BK 117 and Eurocopter AS350 D. More than 2000 units have been built since it was registered in 1975.
The latest expansion stage is the LTS101-850B-2, which should offer 15% more start-up power or 18% more power in low-oxygen conditions ( hot & high ). After its certification it will be offered for the BK 117. Existing turbines are retrofitted with new parts.
