Carlo Schöb

Carlo Schöb (born March 14, 1953 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss jazz saxophonist.

Schöb studied from 1978 to 1980 and 1983 at Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA) with Andy McGhee and Joe Viola composition and arrangement with Phil Wilson and Michael Gibbs . He continued his education with Jerry Bergonzi and Joseph Allard at the New England Conservatory . He then studied orchestral composition with David Angel at the Schaffhausen Conservatory (graduated with a diploma in 2001).

In addition, he played as a soloist in the Pepe Lienhard Band , as a sideman of Caterina Valente , Michel Fugain , Sinéad O'Connor , the DRS Big Band and Vince Benedetti's Heritage Big Band and appeared in various musicals.

He has also worked as a soloist in studio productions by Jiggs Whigham , Benny Bailey , Tony Levin , Darryl Jones , Gerry Brown , Juan Munguia, Sammy Figueroa , Curt Cress and others.

Since 1988 he has given regular concerts with the Benny Bailey Quintet . He is a member of the New Jazz Trio and leads his own electric jazz band La Bohème with Francis Coletta with changing line-ups, including: a. with Randy Brecker , Lincoln Goines and Ray Anderson .

He teaches saxophone and arrangement at the St. Gallen Jazz School.
